Plastic Films and Sheets
SG carries a large and varied inventory of plastic sheets and films for an even wider array of end applications. For example, polyester films (Mylar) from .001" to .014" thick are commonly used for die cut electrical insulators protecting printed circuit boards (PCB) because of the material's inherent dielectric resistance. Polyester or Mylar films are also a good material for plastic shims because of its strength, durability, precision thicknesses, availability, and cost. Metro also carries Poly-styrene, Polyethylene (rigid or flexible), Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC or Vinyl), Polyimide, Teflon, Lexan, Kapton, Nylon, Valox and other varieties of plastic film and sheet stock. Most plastic materials are available in rolls, partial rolls (cut to width and/or length), sheets, and fabricated parts. Most are also available with standard pressure sensitive adhesive backing protected by a peel-off liner, as well as a number of commercial adhesives suited to meet various temperature range, chemical resistance, and bond strength specifications. Plastic sheets and films are well suited to manufacturing processes like laminating, slitting, shearing, steel rule die cutting, screen printing, and others normally employed by Standard-Gasket.
